Path Links is a County Wide Pathology Service for Lincolnshire delivering Pathology to two major Trusts, United Lincolnshire (ULH) and NLAG NHS Foundation Trusts. It includes the laboratories at Boston, Grantham, Grimsby, Lincoln, and Scunthorpe, as well as phlebotomy centres at some of the smaller hospitals.

An opportunity has arisen within the Pathology Department at Pilgrim Hospital Boston for a trainee or Band 5 Biomedical Scientist, or a Band 6 specialist Biomedical Scientist dependant on qualifications and experience.

The post will be based in the Microbiology laboratory at Pilgrim Hospital Boston. The laboratory forms part of the CPA Accredited Path Links NHS Pathology Service that provides diagnostic Pathology services to the United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust, Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust and primary care providers.
The laboratory is well equipped and provides a broad range of testing, processing approximately 180,000 samples per annum.

Previous Laboratory experience would be an advantage. Candidates should have HCPC registration and IBMS registration portfolio for a band 5 registered BMS or a Specialist portfolio for a band 6 BMS. Consideration may be given to candidates close to completing the registration portfolio. Trainee applicants should hold a IBMS accredited degree.

You will be required to have good communication and keyboard skills, and the ability to work under pressure. Although initial training will be supervised by Biomedical Scientists, once fully trained, you should be capable of working independently.

Participation in the 7 day service is a requirement of the post.
