Further study, scientific posters and papers, and CPD are strongly supported.

Applicants must have an accredited BSc degree, HCPC registration, Specialist Portfolio in Haematology and Hospital Transfusion and post registration experience in Haematology and Blood Transfusion. Applicants who are part way through their portfolio with a strong demonstrable career in haematology or transfusion will be considered.

This busy department receives over half a million requests annually, which provides a twenty-four hour diagnostic and monitoring service. The department is the nominated coagulation laboratory for the West Midlands Regional Haemophilia comprehensive care service. The laboratory is ISO 15189 and HCPC/IBMS accredited.

Currently the laboratory operates core hours from 8am to 8pm (Mon - Fri) which is split into three shifts 08:00 - 16:30, 09:00-17:30 and 11:30 – 20:00. There will be occasional weekend mornings (time-off-in-lieu). A single discipline out-of-hours service (overnight, weekends and Bank Holidays) is in operation.

The successful applicant will be expected to participate in out-of-hours rota once trained.
