Biomedical Scientist/ Trainee (Histology) AfC Band 5

Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust formed on 1st October 2013, following the merger of Lewisham Healthcare NHS Trust and Queen Elizabeth Hospital Woolwich. We are a committed multi- professional team who provide much-valued hospital and community services as one organisation. We offer medical, surgical and emergency services to local residents, and also provide a range of specialist services for South East London and beyond. Our community health professionals work closely with the hospital and GPs to provide support to adults and children in their own homes and across a range of health centres and clinics.

The Histology department is seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, highly motivated, qualified and experienced Biomedical Scientist, to join our professional and friendly Cellular Pathology team at Lewisham University Hospital. Suitable candidates must be state registered with the HCPC, and must have prior experience of working in a histology laboratory. The successful candidate will participate in the rotation through the different laboratory areas, including the main laboratory, specimen dissection, special staining and immunohistochemistry.

In return we can offer you an excellent working environment in an ISO 15189 accredited, fully computerised laboratory, and training in the duties required for the post. The department actively supports and encourages CPD.

The post will be based at UHL, however there’s an expectation for staff to work cross site if or when required. The pay band is based on AfC band 5 dependent of experience and qualifications.
