Transfusion Laboratory Manager
Are you a proficient senior level Biomedical Scientist with significant practical working and supervisory experience within a hospital blood transfusion laboratory environment?

Would you be able to take up the challenge of leading the RUH blood transfusion department, and drive collaborative working across the Trust and partnership with other organisations?

This post is located solely in blood transfusion during routine and extended working hours, with support provided to BMS staff as and when required, by phone during out of hours. The automation used is Immucor, with a NEO Iris, Echo Lumena and an Echo V2 on-site. The Trust uses the Haemonetics BloodTrack system across all fridges on the site and the Tx bedside system in clinical areas. The quality information software used is QPulse v6. The department has UKAS accreditation to the ISO15189 standard.

The department provides a blood transfusion service for private and community hospitals in addition to the RUH. If you like antibody identification, we have 2 screening panels and 6 full panels. Developing the repertoire of testing offered by the department is within the remit of this role.

We are looking for someone to continue progressing our quality environment, with a flexible and innovative approach as a technical manager. Continual quality improvement is central to our future vision, especially user involvement and engagement in developing our service to them

The post holder will be mainly responsible for the day to day management and service delivery of the blood transfusion department, as well as supporting and on occasion deputising for the Blood Sciences Manager. Skills such as project management, organisational change, routine administration, personnel, finance and quality management will be valuable. The successful applicant will work closely with other Section Managers in Blood Sciences, the Quality Manager and the Trust Transfusion Specialist.

The Trust supports professional and personal development through experiential learning and both internal and external courses and learning opportunities.
