This is a permanent role with successful applicants being required to work both at Darent Valley Hospital, Dartford and at Medway Maritime Hospital, Gillingham.
Applications are invited for the post of Healthcare Scientist Practitioner (Band 5) and Healthcare Science Specialist (Band 6).
We are looking for well-motivated individuals with experience of working in an NHS pathology laboratory (or equivalent) to join our Haematology / Blood Transfusion Department based at Darent Valley Hospital, Dartford.
In partnership with Beckman Coulter UK (BCUK) our newly designed and refurbished pathology laboratory houses a range of equipment including: Beckman Coulter DxH Analysers and Slidemaker/Stainer (SMS), IL(Werfen) TOP 700 coagulation analysers, Biorad Variant II for haemoglobinopathy screening and Biorad blood grouping analysers.
Successful applicants will be expected to participate in an ongoing quality programme to maintain compliance with the Medicines and Healthcare Regulatory Agency (MHRA) and United Kingdom Accreditation Standards (UKAS).
The successful applicant will be expected to fully participate in a 24/7 shift system in accordance with Agenda for Change (AfC) terms and conditions at both sites as required.
Applicants must be fully qualified and registered with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) as Biomedical Scientists specialising in Haematology and/or Transfusion Science and must hold an accredited Degree in Biomedical Science or equivalent.
