Applications are invited from well-motivated Biomedical Scientists to work in the Department of Clinical Biochemistry, Blood Sciences, Pathology of the Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust. Candidates MUST be HCPC state registered as a Biomedical Scientist and have relevant experience working in an NHS Biochemistry Laboratory. An ability and commitment to work the shift system across all three laboratory sites – Pinderfields Hospital (Wakefield), Dewsbury Hospital and Pontefract Hospital is required. This involves day, evenings, nights and weekend sessions. The post is full time, average working hours over the shift pattern 37.5 hours under Afc terms and conditions.
The candidate will be encouraged to help develop the Blood Sciences Department to offer a cost effective and comprehensive service befitting a major provider of pathology services and report directly to the Chief Biomedical Scientist in Biochemistry.
The Department, processes over 5 million tests per annum with a broad repertoire. As the post is Band 5 BMS the successful candidate will have an opportunity to undertake the IBMS specialist portfolio in Clinical Chemistry.
The Department at Pinderfields is well equipped with a fully automated state of the art Roche Cobas chemistry and immunoassay analyers connected by a GLP tracking system.Dewsbury and Pontefract Hospitals are supported by smaller Roche Cobas chemistry and immunoassay analysers.
