An opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist to work in the Haematology and Transfusion Department within Pathology at The Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust.
The post is full time and is based on an average of a 37.5 hour working week. There is a shift system in operation on a rolling basis which covers days, late shifts, nights, weekends and bank holidays.
Applications are invited from well motivated HCPC registered Biomedcial Scientists with sufficient proven post registration experience. The post holder will be encouraged to undertake a Specialist Portfolio as the department is committed to continuous learning and will support staff with future career development.
The Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust covers three sites, Pinderfields, Pontefract and Dewsbury Hospital. Haematology is present on all 3 sites and Blood Transfusion is present at Pinderfields and Dewsbury.
The department is under a managed service contract with Sysmex, the systems include:
CS5100 and CS2500 analysers are in use for coagulation testing, FBC’s are processed using XN9000 track with automated ESR and slide stainer at Pinderfields and XN2000 on the other 2 sites. BioRad IH-1000 Blood grouping analysers are in use at both the Pinderfields and Dewsbury sites. Thalassaemia testing is centralised on the Pinderfields site with a BioRad testing platform in operation.
The successful applicant will be expected to work across Haematology and Transfusion departments across all 3 hospital sites as and when required.
