We are looking for qualified and motivated Band 6 HCPC Registered Biomedical Scientists to work within Blood Sciences, starting in Haematology and Blood Transfusion. Applications are invited from experienced and enthusiastic Biomedical Scientists who would like to expand their experience and develop their career through bespoke training that focuses on the operational requirements of the department, and their individual needs. The department operates a 24/7 shift pattern in which the successful candidate will be expected to participate. There may be a requirement for staff to rotate between Luton & Dunstable hospital and Bedford hospital, depending on staff availability on each site and absence cover; but Luton and Dunstable will initially be the main site for this role.
The department has undergone significant change with the implementation of Winpath Enterprise (LIMS), Blood Hound (Blood tracking), Pre-analytical Robotics, Roche, Beckman Coulter (DxH800) and Menarini analysers, including an up-to-date version of Q-Pulse, and iPAD access to encapsulate digital imaging, teaching and information tools. There is a plan for equipment replacement in Coagulation, Blood Transfusion and Haematology. The department has an APP to communicate information on our services, including staff contacts, tests and sample requirements for the benefit of its users and patients. The department has full UKAS accreditation and IBMS/HCPC training status and is one of a few organisations to have Haematology, Transfusion Science and Clinical Biochemistry, National School of Healthcare Science accredited training status for clinical sciences.
