University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest teaching hospital trusts in England, serving a regional, national, and international population. The Trust has Pathology Laboratories located at Queen Elizabeth, Heartlands, Good Hope and Solihull Hospital sites.

The Clinical Laboratory Service has a vacancy for a Band 7 Pathology IT Specialist. The successful candidate will be mainly based at the Queen Elizabeth site but will occasionally cover the Heartlands Hospital site. The suitable candidate must be a state registered Biomedical Scientist or Clinical Scientist in anyone of the Pathology disciplines and have expert knowledge of laboratory information management systems. They will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting and developing Pathology IT systems and will work closely with system suppliers, the Laboratory Management Team, Trust ICT Department and Clinical Leads. In addition they will assist in management of the pathology IT team and systems across all four pathology sites.

The candidates will be expected to provide remote support for all sites and be prepared to travel and work across sites when required. Both posts are full time permanent positions (37.5 hrs per week) which will be mainly Monday – Friday. On occasion post holders will be expected to provide out of hours support.
